European International School of Barcelona (former Col.legi Europa) is a private educational institution founded in 1996 by a group of teaching professionals led by the Herranz-Frías family who, after more than 50 years dedicated to teaching and managing educational centres, devised a singular space conceived for the development of a unique, comprehensive and holistic educational project, specially designed for pupils to grow and develop in their full dimension. A space where students, families and teachers together form a learning community that seeks to develop and fulfil the students’ full potential for the benefit of the common good.

We are an independent school, with a focus on humanity, ecology and internationalism, which is in constant evolution and with a great capacity to create tailor-made programmes for each of its students. We seek to optimise the time our students spend with us, nurturing the development of their talents and skills, promoting awareness of sustainability and placing great value on what each student can contribute to society in their unique and singular way, supporting and accompanying them in their personal, humanistic and academic growth.

All of this with the sole objective of helping our students to become curious, inquisitive, empathetic and lifelong learners.

Our History

Mrs. Herránz Frías – Founders European International School of Barcelona

An educational institution forged after 40 years of experience

The European International School of Barcelona is a private educational institution founded in 1996 by a group of educators led by the Herranz-Frías family.

Drawing on more than 40 years of experience in teaching and school management, they conceived a unique space for a distinctive educational project—one specially designed to help students grow and develop in all aspects.

With a humanistic and universal approach, our institution promotes values-based education, embracing the latest pedagogical trends. Our aim is to ensure that our students, beyond being competent, become—above all—good people.

This is a short story that explains the history of our school, from its beginnings to the present day, adapted so that young and old alike can enjoy it as a family. The texts have been written by Nuria Miret and the illustrations drawn by Pilarín Bayés.

EISB Campus

EISB has extensive facilities climatized with aerothermal energy, in one of the best residential areas of Sant Cugat del Vallès. Surrounded by nature (Parc Natural de Collserola) and occupying a surface area of 20.000 m², these facilities include a football pitch, an exclusive indoor sports hall, adapted to the different educational stages, a theatre with 500 seats, two heated swimming pools, playgrounds and outdoor basketball courts.

The extra-curricular offer includes more than 35 different sports and artistic activities, including basketball, football, rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, judo, synchronised swimming, mountain biking, theatre, instrumental music and singing, among others.

Throughout the year, we organise a wide range of activities to share unique moments together.

Some examples are the Welcome Day at the beginning of the school year or the termly coffee mornings for new families, Halloween and Carnival celebrations, the Solidarity Concert in December, the lovely festivals of Infant and Primary, the long awaited graduation of the 2nd Baccalaureate or the traditional Family Fun day and the International Family Fair at the end of the school year. We love to celebrate with our families and the school is always open to more ideas and suggestions to further enhance the sense of community that is so characteristic of our school.
