Linguistic Immersion
A distinctive feature of EISB is our language immersion programme, where teachers are native speakers of the languages they teach. This immersive environment enables students to acquire multiple languages naturally, mirroring the way they learn their mother tongue.
Students at EISB embark on a rich language-learning journey, studying up to five languages throughout their education, culminating in the Baccalaureate. In Nursery (ages 9 months to 2 years), the curriculum is delivered 50% in English, 25% in Catalan, and 25% in Spanish. In Infant School (ages 3 to 5 years), the proportion of English instruction increases to 80%, with 10% each in Catalan and Spanish. In Primary Year 1, 65% of the curriculum is in English, and French is introduced from Primary Year 3 onwards. Finally, in Secondary Year 1, students choose to study either German or Chinese, completing their five-language immersion programme.
Furthermore, our Language Adaptation Department (International Homeroom) offers a tailored programme for newly arrived students who require additional language support. This approach, delivered during school hours and in small groups, enables students to quickly acquire the necessary language proficiency.

European Engagement Programme
As part of our commitment to providing a well-rounded education, pupils from Primary Year 6 to Baccalaureate have the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom through enriching international experiences that foster personal development.
Our European Engagement Programme for a Global Mindset combines international trips and exchanges with activities designed to foster intercultural understanding and prepare students for a globalised world. This programme is essential to developing well-rounded individuals, cultivating critical thinking, social skills, international awareness, language proficiency, and a global perspective that extends beyond the immediate environment.
Through these experiential programmes, students develop their independence and deepen their knowledge in a global context, encountering diverse realities that broaden their worldview. These experiences are complemented by language immersion activities, exchanges, sports tournaments, academic trips, and programmes focused on areas such as leadership, sustainability, and humanitarian initiatives.
As members of ECIS (Educational Collaborative for International Schools) since our founding in 1996, we have established strong relationships with international schools in countries including the United Kingdom, Denmark, France, Germany, Turkey, Portugal, China, and Italy. We share a common mission: to educate globally-minded citizens with a deep commitment to international understanding.
With over 20 years of experience, EISB’s exchange programmes and cultural trips offer students the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom in a unique and inspiring environment. Through activities designed to foster intercultural understanding, these trips prepare students for a globalised world and contribute to their character development, enhancing critical thinking, social skills, international awareness, language proficiency, and a global perspective.
Study trips extend the academic programme in the destination country through a multidisciplinary assignment, such as the Academic Project, which is assessed as part of the course. EISB’s long history of international collaboration ensures safe and enriching exchange experiences that foster bonds, friendships, and lasting opportunities with schools around the world.
EISB has been an active member of ISSA (International Schools Sports Association) since 2006. This organisation allows us to participate in a wide range of sports tournaments against prestigious International Schools from all over the world, including schools from Spain, England, Scotland, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey, in sports such as basketball, football, tennis & badminton, and golf.
The main objective of this programme is to allow our boys and girls to participate, as there are both male and female teams in all disciplines except tennis, badminton and golf where the teams are mixed. Each year every member school has to host one of the events in their school, allowing all teams to visit other schools in a rotating system of tournaments.
Our consistent strong performance across various sporting disciplines led the ECIS (European Council of International Schools) to invite us to host its annual Physical Education World Wide Conference in Sant Cugat in 2019. The event successfully gathered over 100 participants gathered from around the world.
Participation in educational programmes such as Model United Nations (MUN) and European Youth Parliament (EYP) are particularly interesting in terms of character development and critical thinking.
These programmes focus on leadership development. In a simulated context based on that of the United Nations, students draft policies on current and challenging issues such as gun control, global sustainability policies or the organisation of humanitarian programmes. Participants must prepare these topics in English or French to be presented in front of an audience and discussed as a group.
The ERASMUS programme supports projects focused on educational development and the exchange of best practices for the coming years. These scholarships are awarded for projects in the fields of health, pedagogical innovation, and the development of digital and linguistic competencies.
Each programme has a duration of 1 to 3 years and includes activities involving mobility between the countries that belong to each of the consortia.
The International Relations Department can advise and accompany any families who are interested in looking for an international school abroad where their children can spend a year or part of an academic year. This is a customised service to fit the student’s needs.
House Points
The students, from Primary Year 1 onwards, are assigned to one of the four houses (Phoenix, Centaur, Pegasus or Triton) that are part of the EISB House Points project.
Once they are assigned to a house, the students will belong to their house until the end of their school years. For this assignment, direct family members are taken into consideration, so that siblings are always assigned to the same house.
The cornerstone of the project, crucial for it to provide real and positive learning in terms of values and interpersonal skills, is the feeling of belonging to a group, to a home.
This system has been proved to help develop a series of personal and interpersonal skills that are very important for the holistic development of the students:
Development of Soft Skills
- Communication skills – Decision-making and – conflict resolution skills – Negotiation skills – Teamwork skills – Time-management skills – Creation of vertical contexts that foster bonds between students of different ages
- Peer tutoring – The feeling of belonging and inclusiveness – Highlighting strengths in different fields – Development of positive interdependence – Education in positive competitiveness based on cooperation and collaboration
The essence of the project lies in the generation of contexts in which students can put this set of skills and competences into play in the interaction with their housemates, whatever their grade, serving as learning for the development of the aforementioned soft skills.
Vertical projects based on group competition help to increase the self-esteem of their participants. Also, the awareness of the specific self-concepts in which each individual excels and the fact that all students can contribute points to their house helps to develop more self-confident, self-assured, self-aware and resourceful characters, while emphasising cooperative and collaborative work as a system of work with great potential and of extreme relevance in the working world.
The backbone of the project is the competition of the different houses to win the Year Cup. To do that, the students collect points for their house all year long, based on a series of accomplishments divided into different categories:
The different categories pursue a very clear pedagogical goal: to highlight all the skills that students in the school may possess, making them valuable and praiseworthy in the eyes of their housemates. In this way, any pupil can contribute points to his or her house and feel proud of and involved in the project and the progress of his or her team.
Community Service Programme
This programme is part of our students’ curriculum and consists of a termly contribution of hours of their free time for the benefit of their community.
Through the Community Service programme, students learn teamwork and conflict resolution skills. It also strengthens competences such as emotional intelligence and tolerance and concepts such as inclusion and diversity, while acquiring practical skills. All of which contributes to their personal growth.
The Community Service Programme encourages solidarity, community engagement and non-academic learning. This project aims to reinforce moral values and work on human rights as well as to raise awareness and understanding of the social reality in order to develop the students’ full potential as learners.

In partnership with Chazon Africa, our school is committed to improving the lives of children in Molo, Kenya. We focus on providing protection, education, and empowerment through various initiatives, including our Community Service Programme, which offers volunteering opportunities for the whole school community. Inspired by a vision to make a difference, Lucy and Samuel closed their restaurant to establish the Chazon Children’s Centre in Molo. This remarkable school provides education and vital nourishment to vulnerable children. In 2023, a group of EISB students and teachers embarked on a life-changing trip to Kenya, where they officially opened a new computer classroom funded by EISB. During their visit, they learned about the “Mama Molo” project and experienced the realities of life in Molo, engaging in meaningful activities such as preparing food, teaching classes, and visiting children’s homes. This immersive experience provided invaluable insights into the vital role of the Chazon project in transforming the lives of children in Molo.
Explore Your Future
Designed for Secondary Year 4 students, this programme provides an opportunity to immerse themselves in the real world of business. This experience will not only allow them to apply the skills they learned in the classroom, but will also provide them with a practical and valuable insight into the workings of companies.
Each course will have a limited number of places available. For this reason, those interested must apply and a selection will be made based on commitment and aptitude criteria.
At the end of the programme, students will be required to produce a written report on their experience, which is an essential requirement for the evaluation of the learning obtained during the project.

To achieve this, EISB partners with the Inclusionemos project to implement a program in Primary and Secondary that provides a unique educational experience. This programme emphasises soft skills development and promotes an interactive, practical learning environment that encourages respect, empathy, and creativity.
