EISB JOURNAL MAY. EUROPE DAY

We celebrate Europe Day at School

On 9th May, our school celebrated Europe Day, a meaningful occasion that highlights unity, peace and shared European values. It marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for the European Union. For us, it’s more than a history lesson; it’s a celebration of the principles we live by.

Respect, freedom, democracy, equality and human rights are core European values that we aim to embed in school life. We encourage students to reflect on these ideals, not just during lessons, but through daily actions, collaboration and open dialogue. Europe Day is a moment to recognise how these values unite us, despite our differences.

Our school community is wonderfully diverse. Families from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds come together here, and we truly embrace this richness. Diversity is not just welcomed; it’s celebrated. We believe it strengthens our students’ understanding of the world and fosters empathy and inclusion. Language learning is central to this vision. We teach several European languages, including Spanish, English, French, and German. Through language, our students don’t just gain skills; they gain insight into other cultures. We promote language learning as a bridge to international understanding and as a way of preparing our pupils to thrive in a global society.

Europe Day serves as a powerful reminder of our shared identity and the importance of cooperation. By celebrating it, we help our students appreciate the past, engage with the present and feel inspired to build a more united and compassionate future.
