More Books, Less Screens: Rediscovering the Joy of Reading

At EISB we truly believe that reading can change the way we think, feel and grow. In an age where screens are everywhere we want to encourage our students to slow down, grab a book and enjoy the simple powerful experience of reading.

There’s something special about turning the pages of a book. It’s not just about words, but it’s also about imagination, focus and connection. Books invite us to explore other worlds, understand different perspectives and build new ideas. That’s why reading plays such a central role in our educational project.

From Nursery to Secondary, we create time and space for students to enjoy books in many different ways. In class libraries through group readings during quiet corners or book clubs reading is present in daily life at school. And it’s not just about “what” they read but about “how” they live those stories — with curiosity, attention and pleasure.

We also promote the idea of stepping away from constant screen time. Our reading programme aims to develop healthy balanced habits helping students to rediscover the calm and joy that books can bring. Teachers lead by example and we love involving families too, because reading is something we can share.
