“Emotions in Motion”: Educating on emotions, caring for people
At the European International School of Barcelona, we believe emotional education is an essential pillar for children’s comprehensive development. This academic year, we have launched the cross-curricular project ‘Emotions in Motion’ under the slogan ‘All Feelings Are Welcome’, an initiative that involves our entire educational community.
The primary objective is to enable our students to recognise, express, and manage their emotions effectively, fostering the development of healthy and empathetic relationships. We understand that acquiring emotional skills is crucial for coexistence, personal well-being, and optimal development. Therefore, we place special emphasis on starting this learning process from the earliest stages.
Throughout the academic year, all educational stages will participate in dynamic, experiential activities designed to connect students with their inner world. These sessions will allow students to identify and name emotions, helping them understand that all feelings—be it sadness, joy, anger, or fear—are valid and inherent to the human experience. This work will take place both in the classroom and at various school events, with the aim of boosting self-esteem, emotional awareness, and empathy.
Through this project, we aspire to establish a safe and welcoming environment where every student feels fully valued, listened to, and understood. ‘Putting emotions in motion’ means offering them the space, attention, and voice they need within the school context, as learning is intrinsically linked to emotional growth. Only by strengthening emotional intelligence can we shape empathetic, resilient citizens who are fully prepared to face the challenges of the future.
