Litter Less Campaign
For the second year in a row, a hundred of our students are participating in the “Young Reporters for the Environment” project.
With this project, the students test their journalistic skills by writing articles about environmental news or events in their local area.
Last year our students were awarded prizes in the three categories of the competition: photography, audiovisual reporting and written article.
Special mention should be made of the group composed of Alex Vidal, Pau Tintoré, Kaan Özdemir and Berzan Ekame.
These students were awarded first prize for their audiovisual report in the category of young Spaniards aged 15-18, thus becoming the representatives of Spain in the international phase of the competition.
Throughout the month of December, the students will develop their projects in groups of 3-4 people.
They will have to research local environmental news, focusing on “Litter Less” (reduce waste) and forests.
As a school, we are aware of the huge problem of waste production.
We ourselves, as a school, produce a large amount of waste on a daily basis.
We are more than 1500 students and the amount of waste we generate could have a huge impact if we do not take action.
Therefore, we strive to reduce the amount of paper and plastic waste we produce.
By implementing the new measures, we have managed to reduce the amount of waste we throw away.
We believe that the 17 sustainable development goals established by the United Nations are the right way forward.
We consider the fourth goal to be particularly relevant: “Quality education”.
We believe that educating new generations in terms of sustainability, respect and tolerance is the greatest contribution we can make and it is very important for us to teach our students how to respect nature and how important it is to preserve the complex interaction between its different components, if we want to protect a world as unique as ours.
On June 13, we will celebrate the “Community Action Day” at the school, where our students’ projects on this topic will be exhibited.
In addition, we are always looking for opportunities for our students to be actors of change, such as reforestation and fire prevention clean-up programs, a problem that unfortunately affects our forests on a very recurrent basis.
